DiMarzio and Sound Service connect through a decades-long collaboration. Since the early 1990s, we have distributed DiMarzio pickups and accessories in Europe. We started in Germany and Austria. Over the years, more and more countries have been added to our distribution area, and today we are your exclusive partner for DiMarzio in almost all of Europe. The DiMarzio Story
In the late 1960s, Larry DiMarzio realised that guitarists wanted to customise their instruments. This idea led to the development of replacement pickups, which allowed musicians to radically change the sound of their guitars. With the Super Distortion, the first commercial replacement pickup, DiMarzio brought an innovation to the market in the early 1970s that shaped the sound of modern rock music.
Major manufacturers such as Fender and Gibson did not offer solutions for individual sound design – DiMarzio filled this gap. His pickups were quickly adopted by guitar makers and stars such as Ibanez, Charvel, Jackson and countless musicians. DiMarzio thus made a decisive contribution to guitarists exploring new technical and sonic boundaries.
The company remained independent and continues to focus on innovation, quality and individuality to this day, without being taken over by corporations. DiMarzio stands for a revolution that redefined the electric guitar and paved the way for generations of musicians and guitar builders.
Today, DiMarzio pickups are world-famous – they are responsible for the sounds of famous guitar virtuosos Steve Vai and Joe Satriani, as well as bands such as Boston, Motorhead, Megadeth, Dream Theater, Def Leppard and many more. More than 50 years after the introduction of the Super Distortion, Larry DiMarzio's company produces nearly 200 pickup models, all of which come from an unassuming factory in the industrial area of Staten Island.
